Woman in the Mountain - After armed men bulldozed their shacks in the "no man's land" between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, people like Melanie Merilus, gathered pieces of their splintered homes and made tiny lean-to structures against shallow alcoves in the rugged hillsides. Each night, Merilus and her two children crawl into their 3-foot high shelter, but when it storms, they and their neighbors among the rocks must run to a small nearby church where more than a hundred people huddle under a rusted tin roof for relative safety.
